Allergy DietsDiets can be used in Allergy and Asthma to diagnose and treat all types of Allergic problems. One of the simplest ways to help yourself deal with allergy problems is to keep a food Journal or diary. Food JournalThis is just a notebook where you record what you eat and drink and the time of day. this can help you to be clearer about your diet and it can also help a Health Care Provider see where the problem lies. A development of that is the Food and Mood Journal. You could notice that you are exhausted after you eat bread or irritated after apples or whatever. An Exclusive Diet?The next step is to try an Exclusion Diet for a few weeks.The idea is to Exckudesuspected allergic foods and drinks. If you find that you react badly to wheat and cows milk you would have to think ahead and plan what alternatives there are and then use them for a trial period. The Food and Mood journal would be crucial during this period. For Example when I exclude bread and a few other wheat products from my diet my energy increases dramatically. If I eat bread I get exhausted! Again I can drink cows milk but I am better if I drink goats milk.Each person has to work out what works for them. Even a full scientific Laboratory Test is not a substitute for all this trial and error but it can shorten the learning curve. In most cases excluding the “usual suspects” and using good Nutritional supplements will be sufficient, especially if combined with a lab’ Test.One kind of Allergy diet used in difficult cases is the Rotation diet. In this a food is only eaten once in any 5 day period. a careful menu for 5 days is drawn up with meals, drinks and snacks planned with as much variety as possible. Most of the use in research of this diet has been by doctors with little knowledge of Nutrition and its positive use in aiding healing |
